Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior IT Asset Manager to join our dynamic team in Garissa, Garissa County. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive lifecycle management of all IT assets within our regional operations, ensuring optimal value, compliance, and cost efficiency. The Senior IT Asset Manager will play a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and maintaining robust IT Asset Management (ITAM) strategies and processes. This includes hardware, software, and cloud assets, from procurement through deployment, maintenance, and eventual disposal. You will be instrumental in optimizing our IT investments, reducing risks associated with unmanaged assets, and supporting our strategic initiatives by providing accurate and timely asset information. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, and an unwavering commitment to operational excellence and regulatory compliance in a fast-paced financial services environment. The successful candidate will contribute significantly to our efforts in maintaining a secure, efficient, and technologically advanced banking operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive IT Asset Management (ITAM) policies, procedures, and best practices across all hardware, software, and cloud assets.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of IT assets, including procurement, deployment, inventory tracking, maintenance, retirement, and disposal, ensuring adherence to corporate standards and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain an accurate and up-to-date IT asset inventory database, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
- Conduct regular audits and reconciliations of IT assets to ensure compliance with licensing agreements, company policies, and industry regulations.
- Optimize IT asset utilization and costs through proactive analysis, identification of redundancies, and negotiation with vendors.
- Support software license compliance initiatives, managing licenses, entitlements, and usage to prevent overspending and avoid audit penalties.
- Collaborate with procurement, finance, IT operations, and security teams to streamline asset acquisition and management processes.
- Prepare detailed reports on IT asset status, costs, compliance, and lifecycle projections for senior management.
- Lead initiatives for the continuous improvement of ITAM tools and processes, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff on ITAM best practices and tools.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in IT Asset Management, with at least 2 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Demonstrable expertise in IT Asset Management (ITAM) principles, processes, and best practices (ITIL V3/V4 certification preferred).
- Proven experience with ITAM discovery and inventory tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, Snow Software, SCCM).
- Strong understanding of software licensing models, compliance, and vendor management.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with keen attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, complex environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or equivalent certification.
- Experience in the financial services sector or other highly regulated industries.
- Knowledge of cloud asset management (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP) and SaaS subscriptions.
- Experience with IT service management (ITSM) platforms, particularly ServiceNow.
- Project management experience.
