Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robotic systems and components, including manipulators, mobile robots, and autonomous vehicles.
- Program industrial robots (e.g., KUKA, FANUC, ABB) using various programming languages such as C++, Python, and ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Conduct simulations, testing, and validation of robotic hardware and software to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and maintain existing robotic systems, implementing improvements and upgrades as needed.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and user manuals.
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics, AI, and automation technologies to propose innovative solutions.
- Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and technical reviews to ensure project milestones are met.
- Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and operations staff.
- Adhere to safety standards and industry best practices in all engineering activities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in robotics development and implementation.
- Proficiency in C++, Python, and other relevant programming languages for robotics applications.
- Extensive experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).
- Solid understanding of kinematics, dynamics, control systems, and sensor integration in robotic systems.
- Demonstrated experience with industrial robot programming and automation platforms.
- Familiarity with simulation software (e.g., Gazebo, V-REP, CoppeliaSim).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Robotics or a closely related discipline.
- Experience with machine vision systems and perception algorithms.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques for robotics (e.g., reinforcement learning, deep learning).
- Familiarity with various communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, Modbus, PROFINET).
- Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Proven track record of successful project leadership or significant contributions to major robotics projects.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset for the Quebec region.
