Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking dedicated Recycling Operatives to join our growing team in Dalston, London. This is a crucial role within our operations, ensuring that waste materials are sorted, processed, and prepared for recycling efficiently and safely. As a Recycling Operative, you’ll be at the heart of our recycling facility, handling a diverse range of materials from residential and commercial collections. Your day-to-day will involve working on our sorting lines, identifying different types of recyclables, and ensuring they are directed to the correct streams. Safety is paramount in our operations, and you will be fully trained on all necessary procedures and equipment to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
- Sort various recyclable materials (e.g., plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, metals) on a moving conveyor belt or designated areas.
- Remove non-recyclable items and contaminants from the waste stream.
- Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently after receiving appropriate training (e.g., balers, compactors, forklifts – where applicable and certified).
- Perform general housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and tidy work area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials as required, ensuring proper segregation and storage.
- Conduct quality checks on sorted materials to ensure they meet required standards for onward processing.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or incidents to supervisors immediately.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily production targets and operational goals.
- Adhere strictly to company policies and environmental guidelines at all times.
Required Skills
- Fluency in English (reading, writing, and verbal communication) due to safety and operational requirements.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods, lifting, and repetitive movements.
- Strong attention to detail for accurate material identification and sorting.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
