Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and automation system failures and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment breakdowns and propose long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage maintenance projects from inception to completion, including scheduling, resource allocation, and budget adherence.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Collaborate with production, operations, and engineering teams to identify and resolve operational issues proactively.
  • Oversee the performance of maintenance technicians and external contractors, providing technical guidance and support.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections using a CMMS.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and equipment upgrades to enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Participate in the commissioning and start-up of new equipment and facility expansions.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens), VFDs, and control logic.
  • Proficiency in mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, rotating equipment, and power transmission.
  • Demonstrated experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, P&IDs, and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Quebec or eligibility.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis, thermography, or oil analysis.
  • Project management experience, particularly in capital equipment upgrades or facility expansion projects.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is considered a significant asset in Quebec.
