Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Parts Assembly Technician to join our growing manufacturing team in Rwamagana. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the precise and efficient assembly of various plastic components and machinery parts according to technical drawings and specifications. Your work will directly impact the quality and functionality of our final products, ensuring they meet our rigorous standards and contribute to our operational excellence. This position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, exceptional manual dexterity, and a keen eye for detail. The ideal candidate will be adept at working with a variety of hand and power tools, be able to interpret complex blueprints, and maintain a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment. You will be an integral part of our production line, collaborating with engineers and quality control personnel to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other technical documentation to determine assembly procedures.
  • Assemble small to large plastic parts and components with precision, utilizing various hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
  • Perform quality checks on assembled parts to ensure they meet specified dimensions, tolerances, and quality standards.
  • Identify and report any defects, non-conformities, or issues with parts or assembly processes.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
  • Assist in the setup and calibration of assembly equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to optimize workflow and resolve assembly challenges.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting and maintenance of assembly tools and equipment.
  • Document assembly processes and complete production records accurately.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting enhancements to assembly methods and efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in mechanical assembly or a similar technical role
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Proficiency with various hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers)
  • Strong manual dexterity and fine motor skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision
  • Basic understanding of quality control principles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills
  • Adherence to safety regulations and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational training or a technical diploma in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related field
  • Experience with plastic component assembly or in a plastics manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or 5S methodology
  • Prior experience operating automated assembly equipment
