Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and experienced Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team in Niddrie, Edinburgh. This is a unique opportunity for an individual with a strong background in procurement, supply chain management, and vendor relations to make a significant impact on our operational efficiency and strategic growth. As a Procurement Officer, you will be instrumental in managing our purchasing processes, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and timely delivery of goods and services essential for our operations. You will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities, from identifying needs and sourcing suppliers to negotiating contracts and managing vendor performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including requisitioning, purchase order creation, and delivery tracking.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select new suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and adherence to company standards.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with vendors to secure the best possible deals.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, addressing any issues and fostering strong vendor relationships.
  • Conduct market research to stay abreast of industry trends, pricing, and new products/services.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs and develop effective sourcing strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all procurement activities, contracts, and supplier information.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or operational efficiency.
  • Prepare regular reports on procurement metrics, spend analysis, and supplier performance.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar role (minimum 2 years).
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Ability to analyze data and make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Familiarity with supply chain management best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CIPS certification or working towards it.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of local supplier markets in Edinburgh/Scotland.
