Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Agronomist to join our client’s growing team in the Eglinton West area of Toronto. This full-time, on-site role offers an exceptional opportunity to apply your expertise in crop science, soil management, and agricultural practices to optimize yields and promote sustainable farming solutions for various stakeholders. The successful candidate will be a critical resource for our clients, providing expert advice, conducting field assessments, and implementing best practices to ensure agricultural success and environmental responsibility. You will be instrumental in bridging the gap between scientific research and practical application, helping growers navigate complex challenges and achieve their production goals.

This position requires a hands-on approach, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to continuous learning in a rapidly evolving industry. You will be responsible for developing and executing agronomic strategies, interpreting data from various sources (soil tests, weather patterns, drone imagery), and translating complex information into actionable recommendations for clients. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive field scouting and diagnostic assessments of crops, identifying pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies.
  • Develop tailored nutrient management plans, crop protection strategies, and soil health improvement programs.
  • Interpret soil test results, tissue analysis, and other analytical data to provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Provide expert consultation and technical support to clients on various agronomic issues, including crop selection, planting densities, irrigation, and harvest timing.
  • Implement and monitor precision agriculture technologies, including GPS mapping, variable rate application, and remote sensing tools.
  • Prepare detailed agronomic reports, present findings, and maintain accurate records of field activities and client interactions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and relevant agricultural research to ensure cutting-edge service delivery.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver integrated agricultural solutions.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for clients on best management practices and new product adoption.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant agricultural regulations and environmental stewardship guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Agronomist or in a similar field advisory role.
  • Proven knowledge of crop physiology, plant pathology, entomology, and weed science.
  • Strong understanding of soil fertility, nutrient management, and soil conservation practices.
  • Proficiency in interpreting scientific data and translating it into practical, actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts effectively.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region for field visits.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant agricultural discipline.
  • Certified Crop Adviser (CCA) designation or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience with precision agriculture software and remote sensing platforms.
  • Familiarity with local agricultural regulations and market conditions in Ontario.
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and reporting tools.
