Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a dedicated and experienced Ranch Hand for an immediate, full-time opening with one of our esteemed agricultural clients located just north of the Greater Toronto Area, readily accessible from Yonge–Sheppard, Toronto. As a Ranch Hand, you will be an integral part of a small, close-knit team, ensuring the smooth operation of the ranch. Your days will be varied and rewarding, ranging from routine animal care and feeding to equipment operation, maintenance, and general property management. This role demands reliability, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily feeding, watering, and general care of livestock (cattle, horses, etc.)
  • Monitor animal health, identify common illnesses, and assist with basic veterinary procedures
  • Maintain pastures, fences, barns, and other farm infrastructure
  • Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, ATVs, and power tools
  • Assist with haying, planting, harvesting, and other crop-related tasks as needed
  • Support calving/foaling, branding, and other seasonal ranch operations
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of all working areas and equipment
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and animal welfare guidelines

Required Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of practical experience working with livestock on a farm or ranch
  • Proficiency in operating farm machinery (e.g., tractors, skid steers)
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks in varying weather conditions
  • Strong observational skills for animal health and behavior
  • Basic knowledge of fence repair and general maintenance
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Reliable and strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with welding and basic mechanical repairs
  • Certification in first aid or animal care
  • Ability to ride a horse for herding or inspection duties
