Job Description

Career.zycto is on the lookout for a talented and dedicated Technical Writer to join our growing team in Sowerby, Thirsk. As a Technical Writer, you will be the bridge between complex technical information and clear, user-friendly documentation. Your primary goal will be to translate intricate technical concepts, product functionalities, and procedural guidelines into compelling, accurate, and easy-to-understand content for various audiences, including end-users, developers, and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

  • Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience.
  • Write, edit, and proofread technical content including user manuals, online help, release notes, API documentation, and FAQs.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other subject matter experts to gather information and ensure technical accuracy.
  • Organize and maintain a repository of existing documentation, ensuring it is up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Develop and adhere to documentation plans, style guides, and terminology standards to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of technical content for clarity, accuracy, completeness, and usability.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and engaging language.
  • Identify documentation needs and proactively develop solutions to address them.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of documentation processes and tools.

Required Skills

  • Native-level proficiency in English with exceptional grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer or similar role (minimum 3 years).
  • Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures.
  • Strong interviewing and listening skills for effective information gathering from SMEs.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Confluence, Markdown editors).
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, error-free content.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with various documentation formats and content delivery methods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and version control tools (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience in the software development, IT, or consulting industries.
  • Proficiency with authoring tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, or RoboHelp.
  • Basic understanding of programming concepts or scripting languages.
