Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team in the vibrant Silver Valley area of Maple Ridge, British Columbia. Your expertise will be instrumental from the initial project conception through to final completion. You will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, managing tender documentation, evaluating contractor bids, and negotiating with suppliers to secure the best value without compromising quality. Beyond initial costing, you’ll be crucial in monitoring project expenditures against budget, preparing regular cost reports, and identifying potential risks and opportunities for savings. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budget breakdowns, and bills of quantities for various construction projects.
- Manage and prepare tender documents, evaluate contractor bids, and negotiate contract terms to secure optimal value.
- Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, assess variations, and prepare interim valuations for payment.
- Oversee procurement processes, including supplier selection and contract management.
- Prepare comprehensive cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and final accounts.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide expert advice on cost-saving measures, value engineering, and contractual matters.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients.
- Ensure all financial and contractual aspects comply with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Handle dispute resolution and claims management where necessary.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., CCDC, FIDIC) and legal frameworks.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation (PQS, MRICS, or equivalent).
- Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in British Columbia.
- Experience in both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying duties.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to mentor junior staff.
