Key Responsibilities
- Manage air freight shipments from origin to destination, including booking, scheduling, and tracking.
- Prepare and process all necessary documentation, such as Air Waybills, customs declarations, and other shipping manifests.
- Liaise effectively with airlines, customs brokers, warehouses, and overseas agents to ensure seamless freight movement.
- Provide accurate and timely updates to clients regarding their shipment status, addressing any inquiries or issues promptly.
- Ensure full compliance with all international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
- Negotiate rates with carriers and optimise routes to achieve cost-effective and efficient solutions for clients.
- Handle cargo claims and discrepancies with a professional and problem-solving approach.
- Maintain precise records and utilise freight management software for data entry and reporting.
- Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in air freight operations or freight forwarding.
- Proficiency in air cargo documentation and international shipping procedures.
- Strong understanding of customs regulations and import/export processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Competency in using freight management software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
- Eligible to work in the UK (e.g., relevant visa or immigration status).
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to international trade.
- Certification in dangerous goods handling (IATA DGR).
- Experience with specific freight forwarding systems (e.g., CargoWise One).
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
