Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior consultants with field data collection, including site visits, sampling, and environmental monitoring.
  • Conduct research on environmental regulations, guidelines, and best practices relevant to projects in British Columbia.
  • Support the preparation of technical reports, proposals, and presentations by compiling data and drafting sections.
  • Participate in environmental impact assessments, risk assessments, and remediation projects.
  • Maintain accurate records, databases, and project documentation.
  • Contribute to project planning and logistics, ensuring efficient execution of tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members on various environmental initiatives, learning diverse consulting approaches.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geography, Biology, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated strong interest and foundational knowledge in environmental issues and sustainability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic analytical skills and attention to detail for data collection and interpretation.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License and access to reliable transportation for fieldwork.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer, research, or work experience related to environmental projects.
  • Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Basic understanding of Canadian and BC provincial environmental legislation.
  • Experience with statistical analysis software or environmental modeling tools.
  • Relevant certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, or confined space entry training.
