Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of a wide range of dishes, ensuring adherence to recipes and dietary requirements.
- Serve meals to guests and staff in a friendly and efficient manner, maintaining excellent customer service.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively, including ovens, grills, and dishwashers.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all kitchen, dining, and storage areas.
- Undertake washing up and ensure all crockery, cutlery, and glassware are clean and properly stored.
- Receive, check, and store deliveries of food and supplies, ensuring proper rotation and minimizing waste.
- Monitor food temperatures and record relevant data to comply with food safety regulations.
- Assist with stock control, inventory management, and reporting shortages or damages.
- Collaborate effectively with the catering team to ensure smooth service delivery during peak times.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including COSHH and manual handling guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Catering Assistant or similar role in a busy kitchen environment.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary best practices.
- Strong understanding and commitment to food hygiene and safety standards (HACCP).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings as required.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking, or a related hospitality qualification.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).
- Experience working with diverse menus and catering for special dietary needs.
- First Aid certification.
