Key Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during examinations, procedures, and surgeries, including preparing instruments and monitoring patients.
- Perform animal restraint techniques safely and effectively for various procedures and examinations.
- Provide compassionate care for hospitalized animals, including feeding, watering, cleaning cages, and administering medications as directed.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, treatment areas, kennels, and surgical suites.
- Prepare laboratory samples for testing and assist with basic laboratory procedures.
- Educate pet owners on basic animal care, post-operative instructions, and medication administration.
- Manage client communication, schedule appointments, answer phones, and handle basic billing inquiries.
- Monitor inventory of medical supplies, assist with ordering, and stock examination rooms.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Strong empathy and compassion for animals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
- Basic knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
