Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and transmit claims to various insurance carriers, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, investigate rejections and denials, and appeal as necessary.
  • Manage patient billing inquiries and resolve billing disputes in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Post payments and adjustments accurately into the billing system.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing and coding guidelines, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
  • Generate and review aging reports to identify and address outstanding balances.
  • Ensure strict adherence to HIPAA and other relevant privacy regulations.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures and reconciliation tasks.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 18 months experience in medical billing or a related administrative role.
  • Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote setting with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or professional certification in Medical Billing and Coding.
  • Experience with UK healthcare billing regulations and systems.
  • Familiarity with various insurance company portals and submission processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
