Key Responsibilities
- Draft and proofread a variety of legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, contracts, and reports, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using various online databases and resources to support ongoing cases and provide accurate information.
- Manage and maintain client files, ensuring all documents are organized, up-to-date, and easily accessible.
- Liaise effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other external parties, handling inquiries and scheduling appointments professionally.
- Assist lawyers with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness lists, and compiling trial binders.
- Manage diaries, schedules, and deadlines for lawyers, ensuring all critical dates are met.
- Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and emails, ensuring prompt distribution and action.
- Provide administrative support such as managing office supplies, photocopying, scanning, and filing.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar administrative role within a legal setting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a capacity to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and software (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
