Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests and procedures accurately and efficiently under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors.
- Prepare specimens for analysis, including accessioning, centrifugation, and aliquotting samples.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot various laboratory instruments and equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed, results, and quality control data, ensuring data integrity.
- Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, CAP) to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking laboratory supplies to ensure smooth operations.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and other healthcare professionals regarding test results and laboratory procedures.
- Perform daily quality control checks and equipment calibrations to ensure reliable and precise test results.
- Dispose of biohazardous waste properly according to established procedures and environmental regulations.
Required Skills
- Strong foundational knowledge in biology, chemistry, and general laboratory techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in performing tasks and handling specimens.
- Ability to follow strict protocols and procedures consistently.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry, record keeping, and utilizing laboratory software.

Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or a related scientific field from an accredited institution.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by ASCP or an equivalent recognized body (or eligibility to obtain within 12 months of hire).
- Prior experience in a clinical or academic laboratory setting (even volunteer or internship) is a plus, but not strictly required.
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for managing patient data and test results.
