Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding, with respect and dignity.
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and exercises as per individual care plans or therapeutic recommendations.
- Administer medication accurately and on schedule, maintaining meticulous records.
- Engage individuals in stimulating activities, educational games, and social outings tailored to their abilities and interests.
- Assist with light household duties and meal preparation relevant to the care recipient.
- Monitor and document changes in behavior, health, or emotional state, reporting concerns to family or relevant healthcare professionals.
- Foster a safe, clean, and supportive environment at all times.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with individuals, their families, and other care team members.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, care plans, and confidentiality guidelines.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in special needs care or a similar support role.
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
- Demonstrated understanding of different special needs and appropriate care techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to care.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and individual needs.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license (where applicable for client needs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant college diploma or certificate (e.g., PSW, DSW, ECE, Nursing Assistant).
- Experience with specific therapeutic techniques (e.g., ABA, PECS, sign language).
- Proficiency in a second language relevant to London's diverse community.
