Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and implement telecommunications systems and networks, including LAN, WAN, wireless, and fiber optic solutions.
- Perform network performance monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal operation and minimize downtime.
- Evaluate new telecommunications technologies and recommend solutions to enhance network capabilities and efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and project management, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Ensure all network designs and implementations comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and security protocols.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and other stakeholders on telecommunications-related issues.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in telecommunications network design, implementation, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS) and routing/switching technologies.
- Solid experience with wireless communication technologies (e.g., 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi) and radio frequency (RF) planning.
- Strong knowledge of fiber optic communication systems, including FTTx architecture and optical transmission technologies.
- Familiarity with network security principles, firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Telecommunications Engineering or a related discipline.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent.
- Experience with cloud networking platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Prior experience working in a multinational or culturally diverse environment.
- Knowledge of Canadian telecommunications regulations and standards.
