Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Database Administrator to join our distributed team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our various database systems. As a key member of our technical operations team, you will ensure the high availability, security, and performance of critical data infrastructure that underpins our client-facing applications and internal systems. You will work with a diverse set of technologies, including relational and non-relational databases, and will be instrumental in shaping our data strategy and best practices. Your ability to troubleshoot, optimize queries, and manage backups/recovery processes will be critical to our continued success. Key Responsibilities
- Design, install, configure, and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance.
- Perform database backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity and availability.
- Implement and maintain database security (create and manage users, assign roles, grant permissions).
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize queries for efficiency.
- Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patches.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure database best practices are followed during application design and implementation.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation for critical database support as needed.
- Proactively identify and resolve database-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
- Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and indexing.
- Experience with performance tuning and optimization of complex SQL queries.
- Familiarity with database backup, recovery, and replication strategies.
- Solid understanding of database security principles.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
