Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures using radiopharmaceuticals.
- Operate and maintain sophisticated imaging equipment (e.g., SPECT/CT, PET/CT scanners).
- Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, adhering to strict dosage protocols.
- Prepare and calibrate radiopharmaceutical doses according to physician orders and safety regulations.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout procedures, providing clear instructions and empathetic support.
- Review patient medical history and obtain relevant clinical information.
- Evaluate image quality, process, and analyze acquired data for physician interpretation.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
- Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and participate in quality control activities.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and best practices.
Required Skills
- Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
- Current registration with the British Columbia Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (BCAMRT) and/or Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
- Valid B.C. license in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
- Minimum 2 years of recent, related experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Proficient in operating SPECT/CT and PET/CT equipment.
- Thorough understanding of radiopharmaceuticals and radiation safety protocols.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced nuclear cardiology procedures.
- Certification in PET/CT.
- Experience with PACS and EMR systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., Health Canada, Provincial legislation).
- Additional certifications in related medical imaging modalities.
