Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures using radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated imaging equipment (e.g., SPECT/CT, PET/CT scanners).
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals safely and accurately, adhering to strict dosage protocols.
  • Prepare and calibrate radiopharmaceutical doses according to physician orders and safety regulations.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout procedures, providing clear instructions and empathetic support.
  • Review patient medical history and obtain relevant clinical information.
  • Evaluate image quality, process, and analyze acquired data for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines and participate in quality control activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current with advancements in nuclear medicine technology and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Current registration with the British Columbia Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (BCAMRT) and/or Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Valid B.C. license in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent, related experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Proficient in operating SPECT/CT and PET/CT equipment.
  • Thorough understanding of radiopharmaceuticals and radiation safety protocols.
  • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced nuclear cardiology procedures.
  • Certification in PET/CT.
  • Experience with PACS and EMR systems.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., Health Canada, Provincial legislation).
  • Additional certifications in related medical imaging modalities.
