Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and passionate Full-Time Sports Medicine Physician to join a dynamic healthcare team in Fleetwood, Surrey. This pivotal role involves providing comprehensive medical care to athletes and active individuals of all ages, from recreational enthusiasts to competitive professionals. You will be at the forefront of diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal injuries, as well as managing a wide range of sports-related medical conditions. Working within a state-of-the-art facility, you will leverage advanced diagnostic tools and evidence-based practices to develop personalized treatment plans. This includes managing acute and chronic injuries, performing therapeutic injections, overseeing rehabilitation programs, and advising on exercise prescription, nutrition, and concussion management. You will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team comprising physiotherapists, athletic therapists, chiropractors, and orthopedic surgeons to ensure seamless, holistic patient care. A strong emphasis is placed on patient education, empowering individuals to understand their conditions and actively participate in their recovery and injury prevention strategies. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough medical evaluations, diagnose and treat a broad spectrum of sports-related injuries and medical conditions.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans including therapeutic injections (e.g., corticosteroid, PRP, hyaluronic acid), rehabilitation programs, and injury prevention strategies.
- Order and interpret diagnostic imaging (X-rays, MRI, ultrasound) and laboratory tests.
- Provide expert medical guidance on concussion management, return-to-play protocols, and exercise prescription.
- Collaborate effectively with physiotherapists, athletic therapists, chiropractors, and orthopedic surgeons in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, rehabilitation exercises, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient medical records in compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to clinic quality improvement initiatives.
- Potentially engage in community outreach, sports event coverage, or educational seminars.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine in British Columbia.
- Certification in Sports Medicine (e.g., Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine, or equivalent fellowship training).
- Minimum 4 years of post-fellowship clinical experience in Sports Medicine.
- Exceptional diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills.
- Proficiency in musculoskeletal ultrasound and image-guided injections.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient education abilities.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fellowship in Sports Medicine (e.g., CASEM, ABPM&R subspecialty).
- Experience working with diverse athletic populations (e.g., youth, amateur, professional athletes).
- Additional certifications in areas such as concussion management, advanced trauma life support (ATLS), or functional movement screening (FMS).
- Bilingualism (English and other relevant community languages).
- Previous experience in a private clinic setting or leading a multidisciplinary team.
