Key Responsibilities
- Assist drivers with the loading and unloading of packages, parcels, and goods from delivery vehicles, ensuring items are secured safely to prevent damage during transit.
- Support the driver in navigating designated delivery routes, using maps or GPS, and identifying optimal paths for timely and efficient deliveries within Lagos.
- Verify delivery manifest against actual packages, ensuring accuracy and reporting any discrepancies immediately to the driver or supervisor.
- Assist with the physical delivery of packages to customer doorsteps, offices, or designated pick-up points, maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service.
- Help in obtaining customer signatures or proof of delivery, and ensuring all necessary paperwork is correctly completed and returned.
- Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, and dispatch team regarding delivery status, potential delays, or any issues encountered on route.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery vehicle interior, ensuring a presentable and efficient workspace.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and road regulations, promoting a safe working environment for yourself and your team.
- Provide general operational support as needed to ensure smooth daily logistics operations.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 25kg) repeatedly throughout the day.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Strong teamwork ethic and ability to follow instructions diligently.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for verifying manifests and delivery documentation.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures for handling goods and working around vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or equivalent.
- Previous experience (6+ months) in a delivery, logistics, or warehousing environment is an advantage.
- Familiarity with Lagos road networks, especially within the Oshodi-Isolo and surrounding areas.
- Ability to use smartphone applications for navigation or delivery tracking.
