Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, components, and equipment, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., CSA, IEEE, IEC).
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
- Perform power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and protective device coordination.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to support design and construction activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to ensure successful project delivery from concept to commissioning.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues, conduct root cause analysis, and propose effective solutions.
- Participate in the commissioning and start-up of new electrical systems.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety regulations and quality assurance protocols.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering design and implementation.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and electrical simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD).
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and other relevant industry standards.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, or eligible for immediate registration.
- Experience with industrial automation, control systems, and instrumentation.
- Familiarity with renewable energy systems or smart grid technologies.
- Project management experience or PMP certification.
