Career.zycto is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our vibrant team in Kitsilano, Vancouver. Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse learning needs, including those with learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, or English as a Second Language (ESL) requirements.
- Assist teachers in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) and learning strategies.
- Adapt and prepare learning materials and resources to suit varying student needs and learning styles.
- Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and relevant stakeholders.
- Support students in developing social skills, organizational skills, and self-regulation techniques.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging learning environment.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, breaks, and transitions.
- Assist with classroom management and maintaining student engagement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and team meetings to enhance skills and share best practices.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children or youth in an educational or support capacity.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect effectively with students, parents, and staff.
- Strong empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach to student support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in adapting educational materials and strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Basic understanding of various learning differences and support techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Education, Special Education, Child and Youth Care, or a related field.
- Learning Support Assistant (LSA) certification or equivalent.
- Experience with specific intervention programs or assistive technologies.
- Knowledge of the British Columbia educational curriculum and policies related to inclusive education.
