Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical power, lighting, control, and communication systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems using various testing devices.
- Connect power to machinery, equipment, and new electrical installations.
- Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on electrical systems and components.
- Ensure all electrical work is performed safely and adheres strictly to Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local regulations.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients regarding project progress and potential issues.
- Prepare cost estimates and material requisitions for electrical projects as required.
- Train and mentor apprentice electricians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.
Required Skills
- Journeyman Electrician certification (or equivalent international qualification recognized for Canadian equivalency).
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience in the electrical trade (commercial, industrial, or residential).
- Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local electrical regulations.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Expertise in troubleshooting electrical systems and using various testing equipment.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Seal Endorsement (Journeyperson Electrician) in Canada.
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS) or industrial control systems (ICS).
- Certifications in specific electrical technologies (e.g., fiber optics, data cabling).
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
