Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical power, lighting, control, and communication systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems using various testing devices.
  • Connect power to machinery, equipment, and new electrical installations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on electrical systems and components.
  • Ensure all electrical work is performed safely and adheres strictly to Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local regulations.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and clients regarding project progress and potential issues.
  • Prepare cost estimates and material requisitions for electrical projects as required.
  • Train and mentor apprentice electricians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development.

Required Skills

  • Journeyman Electrician certification (or equivalent international qualification recognized for Canadian equivalency).
  • Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience in the electrical trade (commercial, industrial, or residential).
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and local electrical regulations.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting electrical systems and using various testing equipment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Red Seal Endorsement (Journeyperson Electrician) in Canada.
  • Experience with building automation systems (BAS) or industrial control systems (ICS).
  • Certifications in specific electrical technologies (e.g., fiber optics, data cabling).
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
