Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of catering operations, including planning, budgeting, menu development, and execution.
  • Lead, train, and motivate a diverse catering team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their needs and ensuring exceptional event delivery.
  • Manage inventory, control costs, and ensure adherence to financial targets.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including local Canadian standards.
  • Coordinate with culinary, service, and administrative teams to ensure seamless event logistics.
  • Actively participate in sales and marketing efforts to attract new catering business.
  • Address and resolve client feedback and operational challenges efficiently and professionally.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing service quality and operational efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a catering management role, preferably in a hotel, convention centre, or dedicated catering company.
  • Proven ability to manage diverse teams and operations.
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in catering management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
  • Experience working with multicultural teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of local Victoria/British Columbia food and beverage suppliers.
  • Fluency in additional languages is an asset.
  • Certification in food safety (e.g., FoodSafe Level 1 or equivalent).
