Career.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and exceptionally organized Studio Floor Manager to join our fast-paced production team in the heart of Glebe, Ottawa. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all floor operations during live and recorded studio productions, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Act as the primary communication link between the director, talent, and technical crew on the studio floor.
  • Give clear, concise cues to presenters, guests, and other on-screen talent according to the director's instructions.
  • Monitor production schedules and timelines, ensuring punctuality and adherence to rundown, communicating any potential delays.
  • Coordinate with camera operators, lighting technicians, sound engineers, and other crew members for optimal setup and execution.
  • Ensure all props, set pieces, and equipment are correctly placed and ready before and during segments.
  • Conduct pre-production checks, including studio readiness, mic checks, and talent preparation.
  • Lead and motivate the floor crew, fostering a collaborative and efficient working environment.
  • Troubleshoot on-set issues quickly and effectively, making real-time decisions to maintain production flow.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and operational guidelines within the studio.
  • Participate in post-production debriefs to identify areas for improvement.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Floor Manager or similar role in a broadcast or production studio.
  • Proven ability to manage live studio environments under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting production schedules and rundowns.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as production schedules demand.
  • In-depth understanding of studio equipment and production workflows.
  • Problem-solving aptitude with a calm demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Broadcast Media, Film Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with various content formats, including news, entertainment, and corporate productions.
  • Familiarity with current broadcast technologies and digital media trends.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
