Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Studio Equipment Technician to join a vibrant production team based in Didsbury, Manchester. In this critical full-time role, you will be the backbone of our operational excellence, responsible for the setup, maintenance, and technical support of a diverse range of audio, video, and lighting equipment within our state-of-the-art studios. You’ll ensure all gear is in pristine working order, calibrated, and ready for various productions, including live broadcasts, recording sessions, virtual events, and internal projects. Key Responsibilities
- Set up, test, and operate a wide range of audio, video, and lighting equipment for various studio productions.
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and minor repairs on all studio equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and effectively during live productions or recording sessions to minimize downtime.
- Organise and manage equipment inventory, ensuring all gear is properly stored, labelled, and accounted for.
- Collaborate with production teams, directors, and talent to understand technical requirements and provide expert advice.
- Assist in the installation of new equipment and systems, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment within the studio and equipment storage areas.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in studio technology, recommending upgrades or new solutions when appropriate.
Required Skills
- Proven experience with professional audio mixing consoles, microphones, and sound processing units.
- Strong technical understanding of video cameras, switchers, monitors, and broadcast systems.
- Proficiency in setting up and operating studio lighting equipment, including DMX control.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and manuals.
- Familiarity with various cable types, connectors, and signal flow.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for equipment management and maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a fast-paced production team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications in audio engineering, video production, or broadcast technology.
- Experience with virtual production tools and technologies (e.g., LED walls, motion capture).
- Knowledge of IT networking principles as they apply to broadcast and media systems.
