Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately dispense prescription medications and provide comprehensive patient counseling on proper drug usage, potential side effects, and interactions.
  • Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) reviews to optimize patient therapeutic outcomes and address drug-related problems.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and integrated patient care.
  • Educate patients on chronic disease management, wellness programs, and over-the-counter medication choices.
  • Maintain precise patient records and ensure strict adherence to all provincial and federal pharmacy regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee and guide pharmacy technicians and assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to professional standards.
  • Participate in inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications.
  • Stay current with new pharmaceutical developments, clinical guidelines, and changes in pharmacy practice.

Required Skills

  • Valid Pharmacist license in Alberta (ACP)
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BScPharm)
  • Minimum 2 years of post-licensure experience as a practicing Pharmacist
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and dispensing technologies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional certifications in specialized areas (e.g., injections, advanced prescribing)
  • Experience with medication therapy management (MTM) services
  • Familiarity with local healthcare networks and community resources in Edmonton
  • Multilingualism is an asset
