Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and control the movement of aircraft within designated airspace, ensuring safe separation and efficient traffic flow.
  • Provide essential information to pilots, including weather updates, runway conditions, and other critical advisories.
  • Monitor and interpret radar displays, flight plans, and other air traffic control data.
  • Issue clear, concise, and timely instructions to pilots via radio communication.
  • Coordinate with adjacent air traffic control units, ground control, and airport operations.
  • Manage emergency situations, providing critical assistance and guidance to aircraft in distress.
  • Maintain accurate records and logs of air traffic activity.
  • Adhere strictly to all national and international aviation regulations and safety protocols.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain licensure and proficiency.

Required Skills

  • Valid Air Traffic Controller license/certification (e.g., NAV CANADA ATC license or equivalent).
  • Proven experience as an Air Traffic Controller in a busy airspace environment.
  • Exceptional spatial awareness and visualization skills.
  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written) in English.
  • Outstanding decision-making and problem-solving abilities under pressure.
  • High level of composure, concentration, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-stakes environment.
  • Strong understanding of aviation regulations, meteorology, and aircraft performance characteristics.
  • Proficiency with air traffic control systems and technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced automation systems and complex airspace management.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Experience training or mentoring junior controllers.
  • Degree or diploma in aviation, air traffic management, or a related field.
