As a Civil Engineer with Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of various civil engineering projects, including municipal infrastructure, land development, transportation systems, and water resources management. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory bodies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage civil engineering projects from initial concept through to detailed design, construction, and close-out.
- Prepare comprehensive engineering reports, technical specifications, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to inform project design and implementation.
- Perform complex engineering calculations and analyses to support design decisions.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant local, provincial, and national codes, standards, and regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, structural engineers, environmental specialists, and other consultants.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to obtain approvals and address project-related concerns.
- Oversee construction activities, including site inspections and quality control to ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to optimize project efficiency and sustainability.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in civil engineering roles.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar design software.
- Strong understanding of Canadian building codes, municipal standards, and relevant industry regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in project management, including budget and schedule management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with sustainable design practices and LEED certification processes.
- Previous experience working on projects within the Greater Vancouver Area or British Columbia.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
- Familiarity with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., WaterCAD, StormCAD).
