In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the conceptualization, analysis, and design phases of various structural projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for applying advanced engineering principles to create safe, efficient, and cost-effective structural solutions, meticulously ensuring compliance with local, state, and national building codes and standards, including ASCE 7 and the International Building Code (IBC). Key Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design for diverse projects including commercial, residential, and industrial structures.
  • Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and comprehensive reports.
  • Ensure all designs strictly comply with relevant building codes (e.g., IBC, Florida Building Code), standards (e.g., ASCE 7), and local regulations.
  • Collaborate effectively with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and other project stakeholders to integrate structural systems.
  • Conduct site visits for existing conditions assessment, construction observation, and resolution of field-related issues.
  • Utilize advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, RAM Structural System, STAAD.Pro).
  • Prepare accurate engineering calculations, design narratives, and technical documentation.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets specifically for structural engineering components.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, articulating design concepts and solutions.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in structural analysis and design.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard structural engineering software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, RAM SS, STAAD.Pro).
  • Strong understanding of building codes (IBC, Florida Building Code), ASCE 7, and other relevant industry standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical information effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Solid project management skills as they pertain to structural engineering tasks and timelines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or the ability to obtain licensure within 6-12 months.
  • Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, particularly Revit Structure.
  • Familiarity with various construction materials, methods, and their structural implications.
  • Prior experience working in a consulting engineering environment.
  • LEED accreditation or experience with sustainable design principles and practices.
