Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated Anesthesia Technician for a full-time opportunity within a prominent healthcare institution located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This critical role is essential for upholding the highest standards of patient safety and operational efficiency within a fast-paced operating room and various procedural areas. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will serve as an indispensable member of the anesthesia care team, working closely with Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and other surgical personnel. Your primary responsibilities will encompass the meticulous preparation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all anesthesia-related equipment and supplies. This includes daily calibration and safety checks of anesthesia machines, physiological monitors, IV pumps, and airway management devices, ensuring everything is in perfect working order for every patient.

The scope of this position extends to managing and organizing anesthesia workstations, stocking necessary medications and supplies, and promptly responding to requests from the anesthesia provider. You will be instrumental in assisting with the induction and emergence phases of anesthesia, patient positioning, and ensuring adequate supplies are available for regional anesthesia procedures. A strong emphasis will be placed on your ability to maintain strict adherence to infection control policies, sterilization protocols, and departmental safety guidelines, thereby contributing to a clean and safe environment for both patients and staff. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, set up, and test anesthesia equipment and supplies for all surgical and diagnostic procedures.
  • Perform daily calibration and safety checks on anesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment.
  • Assist Anesthesiologists and CRNAs with patient positioning, intubation, line insertions, and regional anesthesia procedures.
  • Maintain inventory of anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper storage.
  • Clean, sterilize, and disinfect anesthesia equipment according to established protocols and infection control standards.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report issues to appropriate personnel for repair.
  • Transport patients safely to and from the operating room and recovery areas.
  • Document equipment usage, maintenance, and quality control checks accurately.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergent situations, assisting the anesthesia care team as needed.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) is preferred; however, candidates with significant experience and commitment to obtaining certification will be considered.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as an Anesthesia Technician or in a related clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia equipment, supplies, and sterile techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related healthcare field.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Previous experience in a large hospital or academic medical center setting.
  • Proven ability to teach or mentor junior staff.
