Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive personal care to residents during the night shift, including assistance with toileting, bathing, dressing, and mobility as needed.
- Monitor residents' health status, documenting and reporting any changes in condition, vital signs, or unusual observations to the supervising nurse promptly.
- Assist residents with safe transfers, repositioning, and ambulation to prevent skin breakdown and promote comfort.
- Respond promptly and compassionately to resident call bells and requests for assistance.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents, including light tidying and linen changes.
- Document care provided accurately and efficiently in resident care records.
- Assist residents with hydration and nourishment as per care plans.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and uphold their rights and dignity at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide program or equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a long-term care or acute care setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong observational and problem-solving abilities.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to care for seniors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working specifically in a night shift capacity.
- Knowledge of PointClickCare or similar electronic health record systems.
- Additional certifications related to dementia care or palliative care.
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to the Lethbridge community.
