Key Responsibilities

  • Provide attentive and nurturing care for children in a home environment.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate educational and recreational activities, including crafts, reading, and outdoor play.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, adhering to any dietary restrictions.
  • Assist children with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, and toilet training.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living and play area for the children.
  • Manage children's daily schedules, including naps, meals, and activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's daily activities, progress, and any concerns.
  • Administer medication to children, as required and with parental consent/instruction.
  • Oversee children's homework and school assignments.
  • Engage in light housekeeping duties related to the children's care.
  • Accompany children to appointments, school, and extracurricular activities as needed.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of documented experience in childcare.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated patience, empathy, and a genuine love for children.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize and lead engaging activities.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality.
  • Knowledge of child development stages and appropriate care techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma or certificate, or equivalent.
  • Experience caring for children with diverse age ranges or special needs.
  • Knowledge of Canadian childcare regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to speak a second language.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if required for transportation).
