As our Wedding DJ, you will be the heart of the party, responsible for setting the mood, energising the dance floor, and ensuring a seamless auditory experience from the first dance to the final farewell. You’ll work closely with couples, understanding their musical preferences, event timelines, and special requests to craft a bespoke musical journey. This role requires more than just mixing skills; it demands charisma, exceptional customer service, meticulous planning, and the ability to adapt to live event dynamics. You will be operating state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment, maintaining its pristine condition, and troubleshooting any technical issues on the fly. Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to understand their musical preferences, event timelines, and specific requests for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
- Curate bespoke playlists covering diverse genres to perfectly match the couple's vision and energise guests.
- Setup, operate, and dismantle professional sound systems, lighting equipment, and other necessary AV gear for events.
- Perform live DJ sets, mixing music seamlessly, making announcements, and acting as an engaging Master of Ceremonies (MC) when required.
- Monitor sound levels and adjust audio settings to ensure optimal sound quality throughout the event.
- Proactively troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues with equipment during live events.
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct, representing Career.zycto with excellence at all times.
- Collaborate with other wedding vendors (e.g., photographers, planners) to ensure a smooth event flow.
- Adhere to all company policies, health and safety regulations, and event schedules.
- Manage song requests from guests while maintaining the overall flow and atmosphere of the event.
Required Skills
- Minimum 3 years of professional DJ experience, specifically in wedding or high-profile private events.
- Expert knowledge of DJ software and hardware (e.g., Pioneer, Serato, Traktor).
- Proficiency in setting up, operating, and troubleshooting professional audio and lighting equipment.
- Extensive music library covering various genres and eras, with a strong understanding of crowd dynamics.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for client consultations and crowd interaction.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for event planning and execution.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced live event environment.
- Valid UK driving licence and access to reliable transport for equipment transportation.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training or certification in audio engineering, music production, or DJ techniques.
- Experience with live sound mixing for vocalists or musicians.
- Existing portfolio or demo reels showcasing wedding DJ performances.
- Knowledge of local wedding venues and vendor networks in Edinburgh and surrounding areas.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities, particularly in languages common among diverse clientele.
