Job Description

Join our team at Career.zycto as an essential Flagger, a crucial role that ensures the safety of both construction crews and the public in and around our Marda Loop project sites. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to enter the construction or traffic management industry, with no prior experience necessary. We are looking for reliable, safety-conscious individuals who are ready to learn and contribute to vital community infrastructure projects. As a Flagger, you will be the frontline of our safety protocols, directing vehicles and pedestrians, and maintaining a secure work zone. You will receive comprehensive training on all necessary safety procedures, traffic control techniques, and equipment operation, empowering you to perform your duties confidently and effectively. Your role is pivotal in minimizing risks, preventing accidents, and ensuring smooth traffic flow near active construction zones. This position requires vigilance, clear communication, and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic around construction sites using approved signaling methods and equipment (stop/slow paddles, flags).
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with construction crew members, heavy equipment operators, and the public.
  • Set up, maintain, and remove temporary traffic control devices, including signs, cones, and barricades, according to safety regulations and site plans.
  • Monitor traffic patterns and site conditions constantly to anticipate potential hazards and adjust controls as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, provincial traffic control regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain a high level of situational awareness, remaining alert and focused throughout shifts.
  • Report any safety incidents, equipment malfunctions, or unusual conditions to the supervisor immediately.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Assist with basic site setup and cleanup tasks as directed by the site supervisor.

Required Skills

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse groups effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying potential safety risks.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and regulations without compromise.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of English for safety instructions and communication.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid Traffic Control Person (TCP) certification or willingness to obtain one upon hiring.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record (an asset for potential site travel).
  • Previous experience working outdoors or in a physically demanding role.
  • Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
