Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly, take drink orders accurately, and serve beverages in a timely manner.
- Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, including cocktails, beers, wines, and spirits.
- Handle cash and card transactions efficiently, process payments, and manage a till with precision.
- Maintain a clean and organised bar area, including washing glassware, replenishing stock, and tidying up.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing laws, health and safety regulations, and responsible service of alcohol policies.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, anticipating their needs and providing excellent service.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures for the bar, including stock checks and cash reconciliation.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen and other front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service operations.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve any service issues politely and efficiently.
- Promote specials and new products to enhance the customer experience and boost sales.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a bar or customer service role, preferably within hospitality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Basic knowledge of common drink recipes and bar operations.
- Proficiency in handling cash and operating a till system.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for weekend shifts.
- Legal right to work in the UK and serve alcohol.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with cocktail preparation.
- NVQ Level 1 or 2 in Food and Beverage Service or a related field.
- Knowledge of local licensing laws specific to York.
