Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct academic and social-emotional support to students with diverse special educational needs under the guidance of a classroom teacher.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior management plans.
  • Facilitate small group activities and one-on-one sessions, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet specific student requirements.
  • Monitor student progress, record observations, and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff.
  • Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Support students during transitions, break times, and extra-curricular activities as needed.
  • Assist with personal care needs for students when required, always maintaining dignity and respect.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Education, Child Development, Psychology, or related field
  • Previous experience working with youth in an educational or care setting, particularly with SEN
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR
  • Training in behavior intervention strategies (e.g., CPI, PBIS)
