As a Mail Carrier, you will be the backbone of our local delivery network. Your day will involve more than just driving; it’s a carefully orchestrated sequence of sorting, organizing, and delivering. You’ll start your shift by preparing your assigned route, meticulously sorting letters, parcels, and flyers for efficient delivery. Loading your vehicle with care, you’ll then navigate designated routes, often on foot, to bring crucial communications and goods directly to homes and businesses. Key Responsibilities
- Sort and organize mail and parcels according to delivery sequence for an assigned route.
- Load and unload mail and packages safely into a delivery vehicle.
- Deliver mail, parcels, and other items to residential and business addresses on designated routes, both on foot and by vehicle.
- Operate a company vehicle safely and responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and other postal transactions.
- Interact professionally with customers when required, providing excellent service.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure personal and public safety.
- Walk long distances and lift/carry mailbags and packages, often in varying weather conditions.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 50 lbs/22.7 kg).
- Physical stamina and ability to walk for extended periods.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliability and strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills (English and/or French).
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with the Beauport, Quebec City area.
