Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, including assistance with washing, dressing, grooming, and continence management, whilst maintaining dignity.
  • Support residents with safe mobility and transfers, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Assist residents during meal times, ensuring adequate nutrition and hydration while respecting dietary needs.
  • Engage residents in social activities, conversations, and hobbies to promote mental stimulation and well-being.
  • Accurately monitor and promptly report any changes in residents' physical health, emotional state, or behaviour to senior staff.
  • Maintain meticulous and confidential care records and documentation.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and company procedures.
  • Offer emotional support and companionship, fostering a comfortable, respectful, and person-centred environment.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrable experience in a care-giving role (e.g., residential care, home care, hospital setting).
  • Genuine empathy, patience, and a deeply compassionate nature.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both as part of a collaborative team and independently with initiative.
  • Understanding of basic health and safety principles and infection control.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, sufficient for effective communication.
  • A steadfast commitment to maintaining residents' dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or an equivalent qualification).
  • Experience working with individuals living with dementia, learning disabilities, or other complex care needs.
  • Current First Aid certification.
  • Prior experience within the UK healthcare or social care system.
  • A clean, valid driving license (beneficial for certain roles, but not universally essential).
