Key Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance to dentists and hygienists during a variety of dental procedures, including general, restorative, and cosmetic treatments.
  • Prepare and maintain the clinical environment, ensuring all instruments are sterilised and disinfected according to CQC guidelines and practice protocols.
  • Accurately record patient dental histories, notes, and treatment plans using digital systems.
  • Manage stock control for dental materials and instruments, ensuring availability and proper storage.
  • Process radiographs (X-rays) and assist with digital imaging techniques.
  • Provide excellent patient care, ensuring comfort, reassurance, and clear communication throughout their visit.
  • Assist with the administration of local anaesthesia and monitoring of conscious sedation, if appropriately qualified and trained.
  • Maintain strict cross-infection control and health and safety standards.
  • Undertake reception duties as required, including booking appointments, handling inquiries, and managing patient records.
  • Participate in team meetings and continuous professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • GDC registration as a Dental Nurse (General Dental Council)
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as a Dental Nurse
  • Proficiency in dental software systems (e.g., SOE Exact, Dentally)
  • Strong understanding of CQC regulations and clinical governance
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Outstanding organisational and time management abilities
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional qualifications or certifications in radiography, oral hygiene education, or conscious sedation
  • Experience with specialist dental treatments such as orthodontics, endodontics, or dental implants
  • Familiarity with advanced digital dentistry tools and technologies
  • First Aid certification
