Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Entry-Level Sports Coach to join our vibrant team in Downtown St. Louis Park. As an Entry-Level Sports Coach, you will play a crucial role in developing fundamental sports skills, promoting teamwork, and instilling a love for physical activity in participants of various age groups. You will work under the guidance of experienced head coaches, learning best practices in coaching methodologies, player development, and program management. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, enjoys working with children and young adults, and is committed to fostering a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
Your daily activities will involve assisting with practice sessions, organizing drills, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all participants. Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead coaches in planning and conducting effective practice sessions and games.
- Teach fundamental sports skills and rules to participants of varying ages and skill levels.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all athletes.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during practices and games.
- Help organize and set up equipment before and after sessions.
- Provide constructive feedback and positive reinforcement to foster skill development and confidence.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding program updates and participant progress (under supervision).
- Learn and implement Career.zycto's coaching philosophy and program objectives.
- Participate in required training sessions and professional development workshops.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of common sports rules and techniques (e.g., soccer, basketball, baseball).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to work effectively with children and young adults.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to stand, run, and demonstrate physical activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a participant in organized sports.
- Some volunteer or informal coaching/mentoring experience.
- Pursuing or possessing a degree in Sports Management, Kinesiology, Education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of youth development principles.
- Bilingual abilities (e.g., Spanish, Somali).
