Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare dining room and tray line for service, including setting tables and arranging food items.
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of meals and beverages according to planned menus and resident dietary restrictions.
  • Deliver trays to resident rooms and assist residents in the dining room as needed, providing a positive and supportive dining experience.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, dishes, dining areas, and food preparation surfaces to maintain health and safety standards.
  • Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper storage of food items, adhering to all food safety regulations.
  • Restock food supplies, condiments, and dining essentials as needed.
  • Interact respectfully and compassionately with residents, families, and staff.
  • Report any dietary concerns, changes in resident eating habits, or equipment malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all facility policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs), and push/pull carts frequently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor, especially when interacting with seniors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6 months+) as a Dietary Aide or in food service, preferably in an assisted living, long-term care, or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of special diets (e.g., low-sodium, diabetic, pureed).
  • Current Food Handler's Permit or certification.
