Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including functional, cognitive, and environmental evaluations, to identify patient needs and goals.
  • Develop, implement, and review individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that promote functional independence and well-being.
  • Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including activity analysis, adaptive equipment provision, environmental modifications, and rehabilitation exercises.
  • Educate patients, their families, and caregivers on compensatory strategies, safe practices, and the use of assistive devices.
  • Maintain accurate, concise, and timely patient records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, doctors, nurses, and social workers, to ensure integrated care.
  • Participate in regular supervision, clinical governance activities, and continuing professional development to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives, upholding best practice standards.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet the demands of the service.

Required Skills

  • BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
  • Valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist in a relevant clinical setting
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively
  • Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postgraduate training or specialist courses in a relevant area (e.g., neurological rehabilitation, complex care, vocational rehabilitation)
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations and in various clinical environments (e.g., acute, community, mental health)
  • Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
  • Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes
