Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including functional, cognitive, and environmental evaluations, to identify patient needs and goals.
- Develop, implement, and review individualized, evidence-based treatment plans that promote functional independence and well-being.
- Provide a range of therapeutic interventions, including activity analysis, adaptive equipment provision, environmental modifications, and rehabilitation exercises.
- Educate patients, their families, and caregivers on compensatory strategies, safe practices, and the use of assistive devices.
- Maintain accurate, concise, and timely patient records in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, doctors, nurses, and social workers, to ensure integrated care.
- Participate in regular supervision, clinical governance activities, and continuing professional development to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives, upholding best practice standards.
- Manage a diverse caseload, prioritizing tasks effectively to meet the demands of the service.
Required Skills
- BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy
- Valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience as an Occupational Therapist in a relevant clinical setting
- Demonstrable experience in conducting comprehensive assessments and developing individualized treatment plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload effectively
- Commitment to patient-centred care and continuous professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Postgraduate training or specialist courses in a relevant area (e.g., neurological rehabilitation, complex care, vocational rehabilitation)
- Experience working with diverse patient populations and in various clinical environments (e.g., acute, community, mental health)
- Membership of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
- Full UK driving license and access to a car for work purposes
