Career.zycto is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Entry-Level Drone Pilot to join our growing team in Downtown, Kansas City. This is an incredible opportunity for individuals passionate about unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and eager to kickstart a career in the rapidly expanding field of aerial data collection. As an Entry-Level Drone Pilot, you will work closely with our experienced team, learning the intricacies of commercial drone operations, data acquisition, and safety protocols. You’ll gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge drone technology, contributing to projects that span critical infrastructure inspections, topographic mapping, construction progress monitoring, real estate photography, and environmental surveys.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for various commercial applications under the supervision of senior pilots and project managers.
  • Conduct thorough pre-flight planning, including site assessments, airspace analysis, and equipment checks, ensuring all operations comply with FAA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Execute systematic flight patterns to capture high-quality aerial data, including imagery, video, and LiDAR scans, for mapping, inspection, and surveying projects.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of drone equipment, batteries, and sensors to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Assist in the post-flight data management processes, including data transfer, organization, and initial quality control checks.
  • Maintain accurate flight logs, equipment records, and project documentation.
  • Continuously learn and stay updated on new drone technology, software, and industry best practices.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members regarding project progress, site conditions, and potential challenges.
  • Adhere strictly to all local, state, and federal aviation regulations (e.g., FAA Part 107).

Required Skills

  • Active FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Demonstrated basic understanding of drone operations, aerodynamics, and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and data management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various outdoor environments.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing field conditions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Geography, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Prior hands-on experience with commercial drone platforms (e.g., DJI Mavic, Phantom, Matrice series).
  • Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) or photogrammetry software (e.g., Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape).
  • Basic knowledge of photography, videography, and aerial mapping principles.
  • Experience with basic mechanical or electronic troubleshooting.
