Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate activities and educational programs.
  • Support children's personal care routines, including feeding, nappy changing, and hygiene.
  • Observe and monitor children's development, reporting any concerns or achievements to senior staff.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organised learning environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering open communication.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction, and emotional development among children.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development.
  • Ensure all safeguarding procedures are strictly adhered to, prioritising the welfare of all children.

Required Skills

  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • A strong understanding of child safeguarding and welfare principles.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the varying needs of children and the nursery setting.
  • Basic knowledge of early years foundation stage (EYFS) framework (or willingness to learn).

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Early Years Education and Childcare (or equivalent qualification).
  • Previous experience working in a nursery, preschool, or other childcare setting.
  • First Aid certification (Paediatric First Aid desirable).
  • Knowledge of various early learning methodologies and practices.
