Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Observe and assess children's development, maintaining accurate and up-to-date learning journals and progress records.
  • Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment that encourages children's exploration and independence.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering open communication.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safeguarding policies and procedures, prioritizing the welfare of all children.
  • Promote children's personal, social, and emotional development, as well as communication, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, training sessions, and continuous professional development initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Minimum Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification (e.g., Cache, NNEB, NVQ in Children's Care, Learning & Development).
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
  • Proven ability to plan and implement creative and educational activities that support child development.
  • A deep commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children.
  • Hold a valid Paediatric First Aid certificate or be willing to obtain one promptly.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience working with children aged 0-5 in an early years setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher level Early Years qualification (e.g., Foundation Degree, BA in Early Childhood Studies).
  • Experience with specific educational philosophies (e.g., Montessori, Reggio Emilia).
  • Knowledge and experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) training.
  • Proficiency in using digital platforms for record-keeping and parent communication.
