Job Description
Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and empathetic Healthcare Assistants to join our expanding team in Roysambu, Nairobi, for immediate start. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
- Support patient mobility, including transfers, repositioning, and assistance with walking, using appropriate aids and techniques.
- Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any significant changes to senior staff.
- Assist with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients, adhering to infection control protocols.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comforting and positive atmosphere.
- Accurately document care activities and observations in patient records.
- Assist with basic wound care, as delegated and supervised by a registered nurse.
- Promptly respond to patient calls and emergencies, seeking assistance as required.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 months of experience as a Healthcare Assistant or similar caregiving role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent observational and reporting skills.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations, including infection control.
- Physical stamina and ability to assist with patient mobility and manual handling tasks.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certificate or Diploma in Community Health, Nursing Aid, or a related field.
- First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience working in diverse healthcare settings (e.g., home care, clinic, hospital).
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
