Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking dedicated and empathetic Healthcare Assistants to join our expanding team in Roysambu, Nairobi, for immediate start. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will be a vital part of our care delivery team, providing direct support and assistance to individuals requiring care within various settings, including homes, clinics, and community facilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care tasks, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, maintaining dignity and respect at all times.
  • Support patient mobility, including transfers, repositioning, and assistance with walking, using appropriate aids and techniques.
  • Monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and report any significant changes to senior staff.
  • Assist with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements and preferences are met.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients, adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comforting and positive atmosphere.
  • Accurately document care activities and observations in patient records.
  • Assist with basic wound care, as delegated and supervised by a registered nurse.
  • Promptly respond to patient calls and emergencies, seeking assistance as required.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 6 months of experience as a Healthcare Assistant or similar caregiving role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent observational and reporting skills.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations, including infection control.
  • Physical stamina and ability to assist with patient mobility and manual handling tasks.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certificate or Diploma in Community Health, Nursing Aid, or a related field.
  • First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare settings (e.g., home care, clinic, hospital).
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
